The Boozy Bud Light Popsicles People Can't Stop Talking About
If you loved Fla-Vor-Ice popsicles, then you are going to love the adult alcohol-infused version that Bud Light just announced. New Freeze-A-Rita Frozen Margarita Icicles are going to hit shelves in May, just in time for warm weather, poolside drinking, and Cinco de Mayo celebrations (which is a "somewhat culturally appropriative day" as MyRecipes puts it so well). The new popsicle is basically a new way to enjoy the popular Bud Light Rita drinks.
If you were not already aware, Bud Light's Rita drink collection is actually the first spinoff from the Bud Light Lime take on the original beer. The latest addition to the spinoffs is the popsicle version of the lime and strawberry flavors of the canned Ritas. While the other flavors are not yet in popsicle form, it's entirely possible that they could make a debut in the years to come if this first adaptation is a hit.
How Freeze-A-Ritas stack up to Bud Light's canned Ritas
The new Freeze-A-Ritas are something to be excited about because the boozy popsicles measure up decently when compared to the canned Rita drinks. The icicles are 8 percent alcohol by volume, which is the same percentage that you'll find in a can of Lime-A-Rita or Straw-Ber-Rita (via WFSB News).
The major difference is that the frozen popsicles are only a quarter of the size of the Rita cans. The downside is that each popsicle is only two fluid ounces, so you'll need to eat about four of the icicles to get the same buzz that you would from a single can.
Each pack of Freeze-A-Rita Frozen Margarita Icicles includes 12 popsicle sleeves, including six Lime-A-Rita and six Straw-Ber-Rita popsicles, so each pack will also have a combo of both flavors rather than one or the other.
Apart from Bud Light's Freeze-A-Ritas, there are several other brands that are releasing frozen boozy popsicles this year, including other options like Sliq Spirited Ice and alcoholic ice pop mix at Costco. No matter what your preference is, chances are we'll all enjoy some form of alcoholic frozen treat this summer.
