Here's How Much It Costs To Hire David Chang
David Chang has become a household name over the last decade. Whether you've seen his show on Netflix, Ugly Delicious, or have been to his multiple successful Momofuku restaurants around the world, he's certainly made a splash in the culinary scene. The author of two cookbooks and recipient of four James Beard Awards, is reportedly worth $60 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth. With this pedigree, Chang pulls in some serious dough for personal appearances.
However, his success is a far cry from the way he grew up. According to The New Yorker, his father Joe emigrated from Korea and had just $50 in his pocket when he arrived in America in the 1960s. His dad didn't start making real money until Chang was a teenager. Seeing his dad's work ethic in opening restaurants in Washington, D.C. was likely instrumental in Chang's success.

Chang also told Forbes his fascination with food started because of his dad who took him to noodle restaurants as a kid, which led him to later attend the French Culinary Institute in 2000. After working at a string of restaurants in New York like Mercer Kitchen and Tom Colicchio's Craft, he decided to venture out on his own. He opened his first restaurant Momofuku Noodle Bar in 2004 and now has 12 restaurants total, with two opening internationally in Australia and Canada. They bring in millions of dollars.
However, despite his tremendous success, Chang doesn't plan on slowing down any time soon. "I don't know if it is in me to be content and satisfied with my lot," he said to GQ Magazine. "I hope to get there one day because it seems like a lot of fun, but I'm always worried about the future and about not having a set of goals. I'm just very ADD. And that has kind of become my job now. Tweaking and tinkering and going back and forth all the time."
So if you want this perfectionist chef to come to your personal event, it will cost you a pretty penny. The Celebrity Chef Network says you can hire Chang for $20,000 to $50,000, depending on what the appearance involves. According to the booking agency, he can be hired for cooking demonstrations, speaking engagements, endorsements, and personal appearances. If you want to book a top chef, you'll have to pay top dollar.
