McDonald's Is Making Big Changes To Their Worldwide Favorites Menu
There are a lot of things McDonald's does that surprises us, and one of the best surprises this year was the roll-out of their Worldwide Favorites menu, which allowed those of us dining in the USA to get a taste of some of the best items sold at the fast food restaurant internationally. While the items from the limited-time-only 2019 Worldwide Favorites menu might be joining the list of McDonald's menu items you'll never eat again (unless you're traveling the world), the chain plans on rolling out a totally new selection of international items in the Worldwide Favorites menu 2.0.
They'll be testing the new items at 100 McDonald's restaurants in Connecticut come August. The new offerings include the Savory Ranch Burger from Mexico, the Grand Premium Chicken Sandwich from France, the McChicken McMuffin from Japan, and the Caramel Brownie McFlurry from Canada (via Inc.). The line-up is similar to this year's in that it includes four savory items and one dessert.
There's no word yet if the initial McDonald's Worldwide Favorites menu will be available next year too, or if the items on it (the Grand McExtreme Bacon Burger from Spain, Cheesy Bacon Fries from Australia, Tomato Mozzarella Chicken Sandwich from Canada, and Stroopwafel McFlurry from The Netherlands) will be discontinued in the U.S.
Adding these slightly fancier menu items has seemed to be a successful move on the part of McDonald's. Some stock analysts have anticipated that even though traffic at the chain has been slightly negative this summer, the Worldwide Favorites menu will end up boosting their sales thanks to the fact that these slightly more expensive items have made the average amount customers spend at McDonald's go up (via Business Insider).
The last time around, McDonald's tested their Stroopwafel McFlurry and Grand McExtreme in South Florida in the fall, then launched the Worldwide Favorites menu in the summer, giving them plenty of time to tweak their offerings if needed. Hopefully the fact that news of their second international menu is already breaking in summer of 2019 means that after testing is done in Connecticut, the McDonald's Worldwide Favorites menu 2.0 will be available by summer of 2020, if not earlier.
