Classic Fuzzy Navel Cocktail Recipe
We don't know about you, but sometimes our favorite alcoholic drinks that we frequent need a little pizzazz. A well-stocked bar cart, at all times, allows for more creativity and more preparedness for the sudden hankering for a celebratory drink. We all need inspiration when it comes to cocktail making, so to get out of that cocktail rut, it's always fun to try the timeless classic cocktails or widely new innovations. Recipe developer Christina Musgrave has just the rut-curing cocktail with this classic fuzzy navel recipe — especially a winner for those citrus lovers out there.
"I like to make this on a really warm day in the summer," Musgrave says, and considering how juicy and refreshing a fuzzy navel is, it's easy to see why it pairs well with warmer weather. Not only does it pair nicely with the weather, but it matches well with the foods of summer. Musgrave notes, "This would be great with any food with citrus flavors, like a ceviche, citrus salmon or shrimp, or chips and salsa." Of course, there's nothing wrong with enjoying a fuzzy navel all on its own, and considering you truly only need two ingredients to make this cocktail, there's no reason why it won't solidify a spot in your repertoire.
Gather your ingredients for a classic fuzzy navel
To make this cocktail, you can start by gathering your ingredients. The cocktail itself is very bare-bones, consisting of peach schnapps and orange juice (freshly-squeezed is best). To make it more refreshing, ice is recommended for serving, and to make it prettier, have a few fresh orange slices on hand.
Fill your cocktail glass with ice
Start by selecting your favorite cocktail glass. Musgrave likes to serve this one in a highball glass, but feel free to serve it in whatever you desire. We think it also works well in a lowball or a coupe glass, just omit the ice. Once your glass is selected, fill it up about halfway with ice.
Add orange juice and peach schnapps
Add in equal parts orange juice and peach schnapps to the glass, pouring over the ice. "The 'fuzzy' refers to the peach schnapps and the 'navel' refers to the orange," Musgrave explains of the cocktail's apt moniker.
Stir and garnish with an orange slice
Lastly, use a cocktail stirrer to stir the drink together and then add an orange slice to the rim of the glass for garnish. Cheers! You are ready to enjoy.
- 3 ounces freshly-squeezed orange juice
- 3 ounces peach schnapps
- orange slices, for garnish
- Fill a tall glass with ice.
- Add the orange juice and peach schnapps. Stir to combine.
- Garnish with an orange slice and serve.
