There's A Better Way To Open Your Fast-Food Sauce Dip Cups

Social media has numerous tips and tricks to help make everyday tasks easier, like using a spoon to peel hard-boiled eggs or using your car's cup holder to hold fast food drink carriers. One trick makes dipping burgers (or whatever other foods you dip in sauce) much more convenient. Many fast food sauce dip cups are packaged with a thin peelable strip. The usual dunking method works fine when using condiment cups for fries, nuggets, and similar narrow foods. But if you like sauce on your sandwich, you probably already know about potential issues. 

In a series of videos, a TikTok creator demonstrated a potentially cleaner option using a cup of McDonald's sweet and sour sauce: Cut a hole in the bottom corner of the dip cup and let the sauce ooze out. In one of the first videos, the TikToker drizzles the sauce over a burger. Several viewers asked for details about how to puncture the packet and, two days later, received an answer. The second video shows the TikToker using a knife keychain to poke a hole in the bottom of a sweet and sour cup before letting it pour into a mug. Overall, this hack received largely positive feedback from users on social media.  

In response to the first two videos — and two others posted by the same creator — commenters praised this new way of consuming fast food sauces. "Girl, genius on the sauce!" one person declared. Another commented on the second video, saying, "I always dipped my burger into the BBQ and made a mess. This will change my life!" By the fourth video, there was a consensus that this was a "great idea" and a "game changer." The TikToker emphasized the hack's mechanics by demonstrating how smoothly the sauce drips out after the cup is punctured by pouring it into a coffee mug and shared with viewers that it was initially discovered by a friend, who also considered it a game changer.

This method works so well, and arguably better than traditional ways of pouring sauces, because of the hole size and the dip cup's hard plastic bottom. After a small hole is created in the container, it acts like a funnel, so all the sauce inside the cup moves toward the open spot as it escapes. This allows for a narrow, controlled stream perfect for drizzling. Admit it: You want to try it now. And once you do, you may agree it's way more convenient and less messy than other, more traditional methods, not just TikTok hype.
