Anna Kendrick's Post-Award Show Comfort Food Is 'Really Eye-Opening'
There's nothing like certain foods that can make you feel good and full on the inside, but also feed you great emotionally as well. Comfort foods can mean different things to different people. If you've had a stressful day at work and your anxieties are running high, maybe a big juicy burger with crispy fries is how you get your personal levels back to normal. It may sound cliche, but there is probably a good reason that folks reach for those pints of sweet silky ice cream when they are facing moments of peak sadness. Or, you just want to treat yourself to the saltiest bag of chips you can find, because you deserve it.
There is actually a science behind why comfort foods make you more joyful. Foods that are rich in carbohydrates are said to increase serotonin levels in the brain which leads to a positive reaction, according to a study published by the National Library of Medicine. Whether it's the instant carb load or a hit of sweetness from a sugary snack that gives you all the feels, comfort foods can also be associated with nostalgic memories that could add to the positive association. In a recent episode of First We Feast's popular show "Hot Ones," where guests are interviewed while eating a range of spicy wings, actress and singer Anna Kendrick was asked about her go-to comfort food.
Anna Kendrick reveals her cheesy comfort food and it's so relatable
With singed lips and tears in her eyes, actress Anna Kendrick — best known for her roles in the Twilight, Pitch Perfect, and Trolls movies, per IMDb — answered a barrage of questions while hunkering down on varying degrees of spicy wings on an episode of "Hot Ones." Host Sean Evans asked Kendrick to expand on the answer that she gave in 2015 to Stylist about her post-award show comfort food. Back then she revealed that she loved to tuck into a bowl of instant Kraft macaroni and cheese, or "Easy Mac" as it is known in the United States. "I sit there in my dress and just eat it and relax, it's part of the experience," she said.
Fast forward 7 years, and Evans asked Kendrick "What would you say is the most extravagant or most expensive ensemble you have ever worn while just housing Easy Mac?" She explained — while sweating and gasping for air from the sauce — that her Met Gala outfit was the most outlandish thing she wore while putting away a bowl of mac n' cheese. "I was fancy you know, I was in a museum all night and then you go home and your eating mac and cheese," she goes on to say that "in the experience of the peak of masquerading as a kind of glossy facade of what you thought the pinnacle of Hollywood was, it's really beautiful and it's really eye-opening."
