TikTok's Crispy Cheese Pickle Will Dominate Strange Cravings

Pickles are the real snack superstar of TikTok. Searching through loads of content on PickleTok will yield many unique takes on this briny snack. There are tutorials for homemade pickles, make-my-order videos at pickle candy shops (yes, they exist), and even taste tests of pickle taffy.

Pickle popularity absolutely soared in 2022 with The New York Times dubbing it "summer's big flavor." Statistics from Zippia show that while the state of Maine loves pickles the most, Michiganders are the ones producing the highest yield of pickles in the U.S. at just over 34%. That's a lot of pickles for an even greater deal of pickle snacks. There are many such snacks making names for themselves on TikTok, some that people love and others that perhaps people should stop making altogether. One user's pickle snack is taking TikTok's love of pickles and hacks to new heights and we're on the edge of our seats waiting to try it.

The cheesy pickle hack of our dreams

Fried pickles are no new phenomenon in the world of unique snacks. The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette informs us that fried pickles were first popularized in 1963 by a man named Bernell Austin. Well, fried pickles are picking up once again on TikTok with a new twist: an added outer layer of crispy cheese. A TikTok creator is responsible for the divisive pickle treat on everyone's minds right now. In the snack tutorial, which currently has over 1.4 million likes, the TikToker advises viewers to spray a pan with a bit of cooking oil before laying down a slice of provolone cheese. Once the cheese starts to sizzle up, they place a single pickle in the center of the cheese. After the edges of the cheese begin to brown, the cheese gets folded over the pickle and they pat off the excess oil using a paper towel.

The TikToker states in the video that their husband finds their snack "gross," however, users in the comments can't say enough good things about their snack invention. "Might be onto something here, sis," commented one user. Another user recommended dipping the creation in ranch and the original poster has since expanded the fried cheese pickle series using suggestions just like these.
