Trisha Yearwood's Updated Butter Board Is Full Of Southern Staples

Though charcuterie boards have been around for centuries, they've recently had to step aside and make room for the butter board. According to USA Today, the butter board trend picked up steam in the second half of 2022, and today, #butterboard has more than 453 million views on TikTok alone.

But what exactly goes into making the perfect butter board? Like a charcuterie board, you start with a nice serving platter, but instead of layering deli meats, cheeses, and crackers, you slather the platter with some kind of show-stopping butter. Next, you can sprinkle the butter with various toppings to add flavor and texture, such as herbs, toasted nuts, and honey. The last step is to serve the platter alongside bread, crackers, or whatever else you might want to dip in the buttery goodness.

The best thing about a butter board is that it's entirely customizable to different tastes or even different seasons. Trisha Yearwood, for example, recently shared her own Southern spin on the butter board, and we have to admit, it looks delicious.

Yearwood's zesty, crunchy, savory butter board

As we would expect from "Southern Kitchen" queen Trisha Yearwood, her butter board is nothing short of a Southern dream. Per Wide Open Eats, the recipe is "simple and straightforward," with a smear of pimento cheese (you can find Yearwood's own recipe on Food Network), topped with sliced pimento, bacon bits, chives, and corn nuts. Yearwood then serves the board with pork rinds or biscuits.

Yearwood shared her butter board recipe with Instagram back in November, to mixed reviews. While some fans were excited to try the recipe for themselves, others were leery of the board's potential to spread illness, especially during a pandemic. Still others cited how "oily" the board was, wondering if this trend would "[cause] a lot of heart problems" down the road. All that said, butter is perfectly fine when consumed in moderation. According to WebMD, you can still play it safe by using spreadable butters or butter alternatives, like avocado or hummus. We could get down with a hummus board, right?
