TikTok Is In Stitches Over Mythical Kitchen's School Lunch
There was something magical about opening your childhood lunch box. Yes, the image of Scooby-Doo — or some equally iconic character — added to its appeal, but the true marvel was the contents. Admittedly, some lunches were better than others, and the state of one's lunch in many cases reflected the state of the household pantry. For most, however, that brightly-hued box of tough plastic or metal was filled with promise and, if you were lucky, Ho Hos.
While yesterday's lunches boasted miniature boxes of Sun-Maid raisins, tinned pudding cups, and a Wonder Bread sandwich of ham and American cheese, the twenty-first-century version is much more imaginative. For instance, PureWow's list of 65 school lunch ideas features options like Greek yogurt chicken salad stuffed peppers, or a grilled peach, prosciutto, and mozzarella sandwich.
And that's not all that's going on these days. Some parents are turning lunchtime into fun time. For instance, I Heart Crafty Things transforms sandwich bags into fun characters using googly eyes and markers, while Eats Amazing makes sandwiches resembling koala bears, Minions, and race cars. And, then, there's the school lunch created by Tik Tok's Mythical Kitchen — a concoction that is leaving the TikTok world in stitches!
Mythical Kitchen's lunch box raises eyebrows
Do you remember that kid that was always trying to trade their lunch? They may just be the offspring of Tik Tok's Mythical Kitchen — the creator of what's likely the world's strangest school lunch and the subject of much discussion within the teacher's lounge. In a TikTok video showcasing this meal's creation, Chef Josh Scherer creates a lunch for his eight-year-old son, Jonah.
First comes a partially-eaten Big Mac, lovingly nibbled into a J, some leftover Halloween candy (Tums,) some healthy fats in the form of a large squirt of mayo, a glump of cottage cheese, and what may or may not be a virgin Jell-O shot. Of course, what lunch is complete without a loving affirmation from one's father? In this case, he wrote: "If you cry, push the tears up to your forehead so it looks like sweat." Those are words to live by.
So how did TikTok react? Unsurprisingly, the main reaction was laughter, while some even thought his words of wisdom were great advice. In a lunch that doled out antacids as candies and possibly contained alcohol, it was strange that many were worried about the note touching the food. Some asked if Jonah was real, while others envied his lunch. It is important to note that Mythical Kitchen fans have grown accustomed to Chef Josh's oddball antics, with his YouTube channel featuring Fruity Pebbles pizza, Oreo Top Ramen, and Mountain Dew Twinkies.
