The Wendy's Chicken Biscuit Hack That Might Just Change Your Life

They say the early bird gets the worm, but if you ask us, getting in the car to grab a delicious breakfast sounds like a much better plan when you're up at the crack of dawn. There are several options when it comes to where to get your first meal of the day, from your local diner to national breakfast chains. Additionally, plenty of fast food joints open up their drive-thru windows during the morning hours, as well, including everyone's favorite square burger-slinging eatery, Wendy's.

Along with classic noms like the sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit, the restaurant's A.M. offerings feature a number of Wendy's breakfast faves such as the Breakfast Baconator and Frosty-ccino, all of which the chain promised would become "America's Favorite Breakfast" in a press release from the menu's 2020 launch. Some may find that a bit far-fetched — especially since Wendy's has had a few failed attempts at breakfast in the past (via CNBC). This time around, however, it seems that the chain's venture into the realm of morning food has been a success, with Insider even claiming that it was up there with McDonald's renowned breakfast fare.

Still, some patrons found that a few Wendy's breakfast items missed the mark, and for The Takeout, it was the hot honey chicken biscuit that fell flat. However, as often is the case, the outlet found an expert-level hack to improve the dish, and it just might change your life, as well.

You can easily DIY a Hot Honey Chicken Biscuit at Wendy's

Wendy's hopped on board the hot honey trend in February with the release of the hot honey chicken biscuit, which Restaurant Business says was also the chain's first A.M. menu addition since it began offering morning fare in 2020. The spicy sammie was only around for a limited time. However, for some Wendy's customers, like those at Master Influencer Magazine, its discontinuation may not have been too much of a loss. "The hot honey chicken biscuit was a big miss on spiciness and overall taste," the outlet wrote, noting that both the biscuit and the chicken fillet were dry.

Reviewers at The Takeout concurred, calling the handheld a "lackluster" sandwich that "whiffed on the fundamentals." The outlet graded the sandwich a dismal C minus, but offered a clever hack so customers could DIY a better breakfast sandwich from the chain. Their solution? Ordering one of Wendy's regular Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit sandwiches — which comes slathered in a decadent maple honey butter — and then adding on the hot honey condiment yourself.

Unfortunately, Thrillist reports that Wendy's discontinued its hot honey in September, though we see no problem with keeping a store-bought bottle on hand for times like these. After all, Beyoncé did declare having hot sauce in your bag to be "swag."
