Wendy's Prices Increased The Most Of All Fast Food Chains In 2022
If you've been grocery shopping lately, you've likely noticed that your bill is higher than a couple years ago. In fact, a study revealed that food inflation is the worst it has been in more than 40 years. Thanks to inflation, there are some foods that are rising in popularity, and shoppers are switching to store brands over name brand goods.
But inflation isn't just limited to the grocery store — you'll find that after eating out, you can also expect to pay a higher bill. Even your fast food order isn't as cheap as it used to be. Fast food sandwiches can't keep up with inflation because ingredients like chicken and oil are high, and data gathered by PriceListo reveals just how much fast food prices have increased from 2021 to 2022. Data compiled by the site showed most restaurants have raised prices. Eat This, Not That explains that while one burger chain, McDonald's, was the only chain to have dropped prices, another burger chain saw the highest increases over a year.
Wendy's prices increased 35 percent this year
Based on the data showing fast food chain pricing from 2021 to 2022, Wendy's saw the biggest increase in menu prices (per PriceListo). Eat This, Not That reports that Wendy's prices jumped 35%, and Pricelisto says that the current average price of a burger at Wendy's is $4.44. In comparison, Chick-fil-A, the chain with the second highest price increase, saw an overall price increase of 15.6% from 2021, per the report.
Despite the fact that prices have generally gone up, there are some menu items at Wendy's you can get for cheaper today than in 2021, like the Baconator, which costs $9.62 today, and the Spicy Chicken Sandwich, which is 12 cents cheaper than in 2021, according to Eat This, Not That.
