Is Wendy's Open On Thanksgiving 2022?
When it comes to Thanksgiving dinner, it's not exactly good taste to tell your family and friends that you'd rather go to your nearest burger joint and buy everyone something off the value menu instead of cooking a turkey. The Thanksgiving meal is predominantly about the turkey, the stuffing, the mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie; not cheeseburgers and fries fresh from the heat lamp. But, that doesn't mean some restaurants aren't open for those who may not be able to prepare a giant homemade dinner on their own or perhaps are all "turkeyed-out" and want something other than poultry.
Wendy's will be open on Thanksgiving Day — or at least, some of them will be, according to The World and Then Some. While you may be able to find a few locations that are open, some locations will have taken the holiday off or have reduced hours. For example, Holiday Shopping tells us that Wendy's will be closed on November 24, 2022, for Thanksgiving, while The Food XP reports that Wendy's will be open during its normal hours on turkey day. Although you may be able to go grab a Baconator Junior before your family comes over, you should definitely double-check your nearest Wendy's to make sure you're not wasting your time.
But, why are some stores open and others closed? Wouldn't it make more sense to just close all the stores instead of leaving it up to guesswork?
It's up to the franchisee
Most of Wendy's stores are franchises. According to FranchiseHelp, a whopping 77% of all Wendy's locations are owned by franchisees, meaning that these individuals have the authority to decide whether the restaurant is open, closed, or has reduced hours during Thanksgiving. So, it's all up to who's running the restaurant and how generous they feel. There are, of course, differences of opinion regarding this. While there are some who would love to eat a Dave's Single on Thanksgiving, there are those who wouldn't wish to be anywhere else but sat around a table chocked full of Thanksgiving turkey and trimmings.
In fact, one Reddit thread sparked debate when a Redditor posted "The whole point is to get together with people," while another retorted, "FYI. Not everyone loves AND likes their family." Another followed up with, "I wanted to go out this year because I don't want to cook the 9 million pounds of food my mother wants at thanksgiving."
However, another thread recalled a Wendy's advertisement from 1978 that told customers they would be closed on Thanksgiving Day. Some lamented the fact that most stores and businesses don't close for the holiday as they used to, with one user noting, "We forgot how to live."
