With high prices and countless brands to choose from, shopping for alcohol can sometimes be a daunting task, but luckily, Costco makes it easy to find the perfect bottle. Liquor is sold in 60% of Costco locations at unbelievably low prices compared to other places, and there’s a secret to their low-cost sauce.
Costco’s secret weapon is their beloved Kirkland brand — a private label owned and sold exclusively at Costco locations. The Kirkland brand is actually sourced from some of the best spirits producers in the world, and the only difference between Kirkland products and some of the most popular liquor brands is the label.
The Kirkland brand allows Costco to buy liquor directly from the producers, which means they save money on overhead costs and pass the savings on to customers. Costco does not carry name brands as all of the liquor there is Kirkland-branded, but those brands will always cost more than Kirkland Signature spirits.
