What Happened To Joe's Gourmet Fish Fry After Shark Tank?
By GILLIAN KING
Joe and Maranda Dowell appeared on Season 9 Episode 16 of “Shark Tank” to pitch their product, Joe's Gourmet Fish Fry. The special breading product was notable because it absorbs less oil, giving your fish, shrimp, chicken, or veggies a nice savory crunch while still allowing the natural flavor to shine through, but what happened after their appearance?
Despite receiving an offer of $150,000 for 25% equity from Daymond John, the deal apparently never closed. However, these spirited entrepreneurs appear to be doing fine on their own. The Dowells branched out and now their products are now sold in over 1200 stores east of the Mississippi.
In 2019, Joe's Gourmet started offering prepared fried catfish in supermarkets, and frozen Southern fried shrimp breaded with Joe's Gourmet Fish Fry was sold on QVC. One of the bigger changes is that Joe's Gourmet as the Dowells opened Joe's Gourmet Fish and Chicken in Lithia Springs, Georgia. They currently have two locations and Joe's Gourmet's annual revenues are around $5 million.
