- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 2 cups flour
- ¼ teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
- In the bowl of a stand mixer, fitted with the paddle attachment, cream the butter and sugar until well incorporated.
- Add in the egg and vanilla extract and mix well.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- With the mixer running, gradually add the flour mixture into the butter mixture. Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper or cooking spray to prevent cookies from sticking. Form dough into one-inch sized balls. Flatten slightly on the cookie sheet. Top with sprinkles or additional sugar if desired.
- Bake cookies for 16-18 minutes until the edges are just golden brown. Remove cookies from the oven and allow them to sit on the baking sheet for another 5 minutes.
- Remove cookies from cookie sheet and allow to finish cooling on a cooling rack or plate.
- Store cookies in an airtight container.
