  • Matt has been brewing his own hard cider for over 10 years.
  • He once ate four hamburgers, two boats of fries, two tacos, six slices of pizza, and two scoops of ice cream at a buffet.
  • In his eight years of professional writing, he's covered countless topics across the fields of music, tech, and food.

Experience

In 2023, Matt combined his love for cooking with his love for writing when he began writing for Mashed. A year later, he joined the writing team at The Takeout. As well as a career wordsmith, he has always been a bit of a food nerd. His kitchen experiments started in 2010 and are inspired by gastronomy gurus like Alton Brown and J. Kenji López-Alt. Matt loves recipes that measure ingredients by mass instead of volume and hates one-pot recipes that require him to clean the pot out between steps. He has also been published at XDA and Heavy.

Education

Matt has a bachelor's degree in English from University of California, Santa Barbara. His studies specialized in the literature of culture and information — in other words, the internet.
