Experience

Dean is a writer, editor, professor, and photographer based in Washington, D.C. He has traveled the world to experience a vast array of food cultures. In addition to his work on Mashed, he is passionate about sharing these experiences with a younger audience. In 2015, when he played a seminal role in winning a Nautilus Prize for 'Children of the World,' a children's book inspired by foods, cultures, and traditions around the globe. He is also currently working on a children's book that takes young readers on a journey through the world's most famous culinary destinations. His goal is to create a unique and engaging experience for kids by blending the taste of the food with a synesthetic bite, making them feel like they are right there, savoring each description. In addition to the eight children's books he's authored, Dean has published two collections of poetry. His work has been published by So to Speak, Underground, Barefoot Books, Zero Publishing, and Zoozil.

Education

In 2011, Dean attained his B.A. in psychology from Princeton University and an MFA in creative writing from Emerson College in 2017.
